Chairman's Desk

Constitutional democracy guarantees some enforceable rights and cast certain duties to an individual in the society. ‘Access to Justice’ is essential to make these rights and duties real. Constitution recognize the right of indigent and the unrepresented and provide for legal aid. Without ‘Access to Justice’ the constitutional mandate for equal opportunity as well as equality becomes infruactuous. To respect the Constitutional mandate and providing machinery for ‘Access to Justice’ to an individual in the Indian society, the legal services authorities throughout India is striving its best. We at District Legal Services Authority, Hooghly are trying in our small way to contribute in this National Movement for free legal aid to the destitute and the indigent citizens of the country. Our initial efforts may go unnoticed but its ultimate result will spread light in the life of the indigent.

We would be looking forward to your active cooperation, constructive criticisms and helpful suggestions.

Thank you,
Smt. Chaitali Chatterjee (Das)
Chairman, DLSA, Hooghly
